The coils have been reinforced with high-adhesive tape.  Tape may vary.  This reinforcement is done by hand, and increases the durability of the cable-to-coil connection. 

Coils are designed to be soft and flexible and very light, so they will wear out with use.  Please check them often and replace as necessary.
